Hi, I am a nineteen year old with a growing concern about her health. About two months ago, I noticed that my left tonsil was enlarged. I was at first not really concerned but went to see the family physician who tested for strep (negative). Two weeks late it was still present and i was starting to feel sick-sort of nauseated and definately exhausted. Long story short- my tonsil is still enlarged (the doctors say it is "slightly" enlarged) but it sticks out about 5 cms beyond the opposite tonsil. I have had three CBCs all come back fairly normal with midlly fluctuating platelet and white blood cell counts (but all within normal range), I have been tested three times for mono, and even had a CT scan of my abdomen done (because I have this tender, painful left upper quadrant which one doctor told me was my spleen-but the CT scan showed it to not be swollen anymore). My doctors don't know what to do with me anymore-they say my symptoms seem disconnected and have even suggested depression as the cause but I can assure you this couldn't be farther from the truth. The only thing bugging me is my health! So, I have an appointment with yet another family physician coming up and i'm wondering what I should be saying-does it make sense to ask them to do more in depth tests or biopsy my tonsil-my other lymph nodes don't appear to be consistently swollen? any thoughts would be extremely helpful-i am going crazy and would love to get this resolved. Thank you!
