My husband had an A typical cell mole removed from him side in mid June 2007, Within a week he had his first lymph node bioposy. It came back as Melanoma.
Then on the 28th of June he had a more intensive lymph node removal from his side and his groin with more melanoma found.
He was refered to a speicalist and had a total lymph node removel from his back to his groin on the 26th of July. The bioposy says there were no melanoma present.
At the end of August he started Interferon treatments, we had just finished the 4 week/ 5 days of treatment when he became very ill. He was paralized on his right side, he could feel sensation but had no ability to move his arm or leg.
Sept 23rd he was air-evaced to see a Neurologist and we were told that he has a tumor on his brian that was bleeding and pressing on his brain causing the paralysis.
He underwent surgery on the 25th and the doctor said that it was magaliant melanoma and that there were at least 20 smaller tumors found in his brain as well.
Initially, we were told that radiation and chemotherpy weren't very helpful with melanoma. He has started an oral chemotherpy and also a 10 day of whole brain radiation.
We want to know if there is anything else we can try or if this is it for him?
Thank you for letting me vent here.
