Subject: CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE AND CANCER
Date: 10/12/2007
Okay I am here for my mother and maybe someone can help me.We are not giving up on this fight just yet.Let me make a long story short.Mom was diagnosed with congestive heart failure (here on out referred to as CHF for short ! ) in May of 2002.Dependent upon the type of chf you have and if you have the enlarged heart type of this -aka acute myocardiopathy you only have a 30% chance at surviving after 5 years.Mom was a 2 to 3 pack a day smoker of Viceroy *the nastiest smokes around I might add.She developed chf because of this.Just 2 years later my mom started bleeding out down in her private area.I knew what it was immediately and kept telling mom it may be cancer.I knew this because my best friend in high school had numerous cysts on her ovaries and she bled constantly. But I also knew that since mom had been through menopause this was something very very serious. After 3 emergency room visits and 6 units of blood transfusions they finally decided to do the biopsy- on December,15,2004, my mom and my best friend in the whole world's life changed forever. It was bad:Squamous Cell Carcinoma primary in the cervix.By the time we got to Dallas it was already the size of a small orange/nectarine.They zapped it with radiation and Taxotere. Now comes September of 2006.Since mom has CHF they say they couldn't perform surgery, yet since the radiation fused her colon to her uterus they performed   A laproscopic colonostomy using lidocaine.See guys with chf they cannot operate on you so if something happens to you like say you receive internal injuries from an accident or in my mom's case they cannot perform a hysterectomy, they cannot operate.OR THAT IS WHAT THEY ARE SAYING.The tumor is now in her uterus, it is approximately 5 inches in circumference, we have been taking chemo for the past year every week, these last few months have been a combination of three different types of chemo. The tumor has neither shrunk nor grown so the chemo is doing something. However now they are saying my mother is only going to get one more chemo treatment and then they are sending her home so the HOSPICE can start coming out to take care of her.THIS HAS ABSOLUTELY crushed me.They say it is treatable not curable.Of course no cancer is "curable". However there has to be someone somewhere researching chf and cancer. This cannot be the end my momma is a tough lady. She is 56 years old.So what I am asking is can anyone point me in the right direction to someone or somewhere that may be of assistance to me in this fight for my mothers life?I will gladly answer any and all questions as to what I know about you new people being diagnosed with cancer especially the squamous cell variety.Squamous cell means to "move up in the body" and it usually manifests itself as skin cancer.I would appreciate any responses.Remember those of you that have cancer you are not alone and it will be okay I ASSURE YOU.
