I would really appreciate hearing from those who are or have taken chemotherapy for prostrate cancer, and what stage cancer they are in, and how effective it has been. My brother has stage 4 cancer with mets to the bone. He has been treated by the doctors at the Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. and they have not mentioned chemotherapy. Another doctor in Ann Arbor,  Michigan has said no to chemotherapy. Since I've read about good results from those who have had chemo for their prostrate cancer, I;m wondering why my brothers doctors have not recommended it for him too. I'm wondering if my brothers cancer is past the stage at which they think that chemotherapy will be effective. Thanks so much for any information anyone might have in regard to this.

In prostate cancer,  chemotherapy is generally a last resort reserved for tumors that are not responsive to hormone therapy.
