I was diagnosed on 7/2/07. Since then I had 3 sessions of chemo and 25 of radiation. My surgery is set for 11/8/07 and expect to have 2 more sessions of chemo after.   What restrictions should I expect after the tumor is removed from my left thigh?  Will I have full use of my leg?

My husband had a 15cm high grade myxoid tumor removed from back of knee and thigh in Jan. 07.

He started walking after surgery with crutches and progressed to cane quickly.  Had the cane for quite a while but then began walking in neighborhood slowly.  Then progressed to walking track in our neighborhood.  Now He walks everday 2.5 miles.

His leg look ok but there is a huge scar but who cares.  he can not run yet as he says it feels weird.  I don't think he should worry about that and just walk.  (He use to run 3 days or more a week)

hope everything works out.

I finally found someone talking about myxofibrosarcoma.  Thank you.  I am here a few years later than your original post.  I certainly hope that your recovery has progressed well.

My "lump" was on the outer side of my calf. About 8c x 5c.  Diagnosed in 8/08.  Stage 2 High Grade.  After chemo, then surgery, skin graft and radiation.  I was very worried that my leg and foot use and movement would be severely affected.  Its now been 9 months since surgery.  I walk wonderfully.  Perhaps not as quickly as before, but  I have my leg.  The surgery does leave quite a scar, even with a skin graft.  At first I was very concerned about how it would look.  However, after going though all the steps to treatment and cure, and observing many others with greater physical limitations than mine,  I thank God for my healing and will wear my scar as badge of victory.

The orthopedic surgeon insisted on stretching and strengthening the leg muscles and tendons.   I found that the practice of Pilates to be extremely effective. During the first few months after radiation, healing had been slowed.  Also some tissue damage made the leg painful.  But, lately I have noticed a lessening of the pain and fatigue associated with being on my feet.  It is getting better!

I would like to hear from others who have also had myxofibrosarcoma. To know of the outcomes and any lung mets that may have occurred.  So far, I am OK on that end.
