My brother had prostrate removed 6 years ago due to cancer. One year ago when he started having alot of pain, his doctor found that he had prostrate cancer mets to the bone. pelvic, spine and shoulders. He was put on hormone shots one every 4 months, and had 3 weeks of radiation which took away his pain. If someone has experienced this diagnosis as well, I would so appreciate hearing from you, and how you are doing and what treatments you have had or are on.  We are concerned, as the doctor suggested clinical trial treatment following his last bone scan, but several days later decided not to do it. Did they make a mistake in reading the bone scan and it wasn't as as bad as they thought or do they feel the cancer is too advanced for the clinical trial to be helpful.? I will be greatful for any information that anyone can share regarding. Thanks so much!

I am curious about what the pathology report said when your brother had the prostate removed.  Did it say that the prostate had no positive margins and all cancer confined to the prostate?

In response to your question about my brothers pathology report following the removal of his prostate due to cancer, going on 6 years ago now,  His Doctor told him that his cancer was confined to the prostate, and that they had gotten all of the cancer and there would be no further treatment needed. Unfortunately that was not the case. I've known several who have had prostate cancer  that had surgery, and ten years later there has been no sign of reaccurance.  Thanks for responding to my message. My brother continues to do well right now, on hormone therapy.

I feel terrible for your brother after being told that they got all the cancer, and then it comes back. What false hopes.  The reason I asked is that I just had mine out sept 25 and my doc told me the same thing, no positive margins and all cancer confined to the prostate. Now that I read about your brother and other men who also were told all cancer confined to prostate and then they see a reoccurence in 5 or 6 years,, all this scares me.
