Hi

I have been offered tratment on a clinical trial by the Baja cancer institute in Ensenada, Mexico involving a newly developed drug called FAN-C.

Does anyone know of this trial or has anyone been part of it?

I am desperate to know as this could be my final chance.

Be careful! Check them out thoroughly before doing this. There are many charlatans that try to take advantage of people with cancer. My husband has metastic lung cancer and we checked out places in Costa Rica and Dominican Republic.
After researching we decided against going because first of all it's very expensive and secondly they don't guarantee anything. The truth is some people die in those clinics, but people don't hear about it because they don't do the research. Contact Harvard Medical school and ask about the clinic you have chosen before sending them money or leaving the U.S.
God bless you.

Thank you so much for your reply.
I had tried to research them everywhere but could find nothing about them.
I asked to talk to one of their drs who duly rng me but could not answer my questions even as to what phase the trial was in. This has led us to give up with them.
Both myself and my husband had really got our hopes up as it all seemed so good when you look at their website and speak via email with them.
I hope your husband is doing well.
Kind thoughts to you.

I have heard for the Clinics in Tujuana, and Ensenada. I understand you recieve very good palative care and the faciliies are nice. It seems all treament involves some fruit pit extract (laiitril that does not work). I know of one person who went to the TJ clinic but her cancer was very advanced when she went and she was not cured. I don't believe that they have a cancer cure in Mexico if they did it would be avaialable in the US or everyone would be goingto Mexico. Have you been to a major cancer center for an opinion. If not that my be a good choice first. Keep fighing and best of luck.

Hi,

I know that is very important to weed out the fake cancer clinics, but you also should pay attention in which doctors and researchers are behind each therapy. In the case of Baja Cancer Institute is a real clinic. You should check the whole website in bajacancer.org and also see the respectable doctors who work in that research.  Ask all the question that you want before decide. Big pharmaceutical don't want smaller researchers to have a successful therapy that 's why sometimes they have to go to other countries to jump the bureaucracy of the FDA and the big companies that want to control the market of their drugs without reaching a cure. Good luck and keep fighting!
