Hi,

Just wanted to let you all know that I finally got in touch with Mrs. Witte in Munich.  She had quoted me 15,000 EUROS for the HIFU procedure.  That's an estimate of $21,000 USD.  I know price should not be an issue but if it is going to cost me $21,000 for the procedure in Germany(not including hotel and travel), I was thinking of just getting it done in Cancun by Dr. Suarez for $25,000. My friend lives in California so it is ONLY 4 hours by plane. Is this what it cost you to do it in Germany? This is a quote to have it done in December 2007 or January 2008.

Another question?  Does anyone have information on the hospital in Japan?  I found a  website for Teikyo and have sent them many e-mails but still no response.  Has anyone got any information or spoken to someone in Japan about HIFU?  The cost? The length of stay, etc?

Thanks

The Munich Hospital (And perhaps all of Europe?) had a price increase as of 1 October. The $/Euro conversion doesn't help, either! I got in under the wire and am scheduled for 7 November treatment. Nevertheless, one gets treatment with superior equipment (Ablatherm) operated by someone (Thuroff/Chaussy) who has performed more of these than anyone in the world. Their standard of treatment also includes a TURP and a stay in hospital and area long enough to deal with any challenges afterwards, seemingly a more thought-out procedure than putting one on a plane the day after and trusting there are no complications.

Can't help with any information regards Japan, sorry.

 Regards

 Hi, here is my experiance.

On july 15th I had HIFU procedure done in Puerto Villarta, Mexico. I paid $23,00 but but can be had @$12,000 US. using a mexican surgeon, who in my opinion is very gifted. I cancelled out on germany mainly because they use the Albertherm machine and I wanted the Sonoblat 500 because Ifelt that it was far superior. I walked out of the hospital about 9 hours later.

Recovery was very quick and Iwas just tested and my PSA went from 6.1 to 0.1

Hi.  Just wondering how your recovery is going.  Any problems with stricture, etc.?  How about frequency?

Have you considered Canada? You can get either ablatherm or sonoblate depending on who you choose. I had ablatherm by maple leaf hifu last June and am recovering well. Much better than RA or radiation. max

I will be getting HIFU treatment next month by Dr. Scionti, who practices in Hilton Head, NC.  I will be treated in Puerto Vallarta, MX at a cost of 25K.  His website is www.hifucarecenter.com

Martino, who is the $12,000 surgeon, and how do you know that surgeon is very gifted if you went with someone else?

 Thanks,

Hi,

Hope your recovery is going well.  I am seriously considering HIFU within the next couple of months.

I would like to know more about your experience.  Have you had incontinence or ED either immediately after or since the procedure?  Who was your surgeon?  Did you have the nerve sparing procedure?  How was your recuperation?  Did you have TURP?

Thanks,

Hal
