Subject: Is it possible...

Is it possible for me to have a form of cancer at fifteen?

I recall my mom saying she had cancer when I was twelve, my brother may have lymphoma at seventeen, and we have a history of cancer in our family.

I don't know if any of this is related to cancer but, I have recenlty been having sharp pains in my spleen, I have migraines constantly for long amounts of time, my jaw randomly hurts, I get dizzy randomly, and I have frequent "Charlie horses" In my legs at the slightest movement.

Also, I used to run and play a lot, but for about two years, My legs and knees feel horrible and feel like they're out of place or something....like a bunch of fractures, whenever I am taking part in an activity. It's recently becoming more of a chore to breathe...my lungs feel like they're on fire and I get what I call a drowning sensation. It seems like I can't catch my breath. It's horrible--I miss running and just being able to move about or roll over in bed without my leg, back, neck, jaw,or spleen hurting.

Hello,

Cancer is possible at any age. You need to talk to your mother about your concerns and maybe she can take you to see your doctor and clear up some of your concerns. Its important that you let your mother know whats going on with you.

I have told her...but she just blows it off every time I bring it up...just like the rest of the things involving me.

if you're having trouble convincing your mom, maybe you could talk with your school nurse. Sometimes they can help.
