Parkinson's and Breast Cancer

My mother (age 65) was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002. She had a recurrence the following year; breast cancer had spread to lymph nodes. In 2004, my mother was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Last week, we learned she has had another recurrence of cancer in lymph nodes. I would like to know whether anyone has experience managing cancer and Parkinson's disease simultaneously? What are the complications? How do you cope with fatigue? My mother is sleeping about 16 hours a day already. She is presently on Requip for Parkinson's and Lexipro (sp?) for depression. She has not had chemotherapy and does not think she can tolerate it in addition to coping with Parkinson's. She is not a candidate for Tamoxifin (sp?). What are our options? Worried daughter . . .

May God Bless You and Your Mother!

I am a BC patient experiencing a recurrence. Jan. 25, 2001 first diagnosed with treatment for left breast. Jan. 31, 2005 underwent "Simply Mastectomy" now I have 2 chemo treatments under my belt with 4 more to go. Chemo is the worst and I thought the last time was bad! Whew! I don't know anything about what you are dealing with. When I read your message my heart dropped and I had to ask HIM to BLESS you both. Sincerely

Thank You

Denise, Thank you for the reply. My mother has deep faith and I know that is why she has managed to hold it together. We'll keep you in our prayers. Jayne
