Has anyone heard of a way of bathing a bedridden patient by wrapping him/her in towels soaked in a soapy solution?  If so, what kind of soap and how?  A friend of the family who nursed some years ago remembers doing something like this in training.  I'd appreciate any input!

When my mom had hospice, for the short time she had it, they sponged bathed her. What they did, was first roll her one side, slide a dry towel, then roll her the other way and pull the towel under completely, then she used a wash cloth, soad and water, wash one area of her body then wipe if off clean, she had two basins, one with clean wather the other was soapy water. my mother was never soak and wet, she also washed her hair, the same way with a wash cloth. It takes time and experince but she did get a bath. Good luck.

after my husband's last operation, my sister in law found pop up wipes to bathe him with.  They were much thicker and larger than a wipe and they had the soap in them.  They were very handy.  I think she bought them in a drug store.

When my dad was sick we asked out hospice people for wipes. They came in a blue package and they were dry, we just placed them in warm water and it worked well. Although we bathed my father daily, he begain to aquire of fowl oder in his hands. The hospice suggested at that time we place a face cloth with cologe on it in his palms as his hands were closing up. I hope this helps. I wish you the best.
