Mom's Journey Ended

My Mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in July 07 that metasticized to her bones.  Her journey ended on Nov. 4th.  She started with radiation and then went on Gemzar (chemo).  The cancer in her bones was in her hip, right shoulder, and ribs.  The pain she was in was excrutiating.  She was pretty much bedridden the last 3-4 weeks due to the pain.  She always said, "if I lay still it doesn't hurt."  Hospice was wonderful and did provide the pain relief that she needed as well as the emotional support for the family.  My mother was a very positive and strong woman and it was horrible to watch as the cancer took over her body.  I miss her very much but am grateful to know that she is in a better place and painfree.

REPLY TO MOMS JOURNEY ENDED...Im so very sorry about the loss of your Mom, due to pancreas cancer and mets to the bone. My Mom, also had pancreas cancer and passed away 4 years ago. She too fought so hard, but unfortunately pancretic cancer is a difficult one to beat. My heart so goes out to you Dear friend, and though it is so difficult to lose our loved one,...I agree with you completely, that after watching someone you love go through so much, we can only know that they are in a better place. I am so sorry for your loss. I'm sure I know how you must have felt, for I feel like I am about to go through the same thing. My mom just went to the doctor to get her blood test results back. The doctor could not tell her if she did in fact have cancer or not. He told her that she had to go for a liver biopsy and from those results he could then tell her. But in the meantime, she is suffering everyday with excruciating pain. It is so hard to watch someone who was once so active become wore out by 9:00 in the morning. Shes found several lumps running up on the outside of her right arm up to the back of her neck. Her fingers have become severley swollen to where the skin is breaking. She has a consultation with the gastrotologist next week but is deathly scared of what may be to come until then. I read your story and when you said that when your mom told you "when she lays still the pain isn't there" That is what she says a lot. I am very scared that if she does have cancer it may be too late. I was wondering if you had any advice to give to her for some peace of mind. Is what she is going through, could it be cancer?
