In August my mother-in-law, 67, went to the dr. because she felt a mass in her abdomen.  The dr. came in and noticed she was jaundice, so forget the mass and we start trying to find out about the liver.  The tried to do an ERCP on her in Lufkin, TX.  Could not do it, so they sent us to ST. LUKES in Houston, TX.  The specialist did the ERCP and was able to place a stent in the duct, but told me there was nothing that could be done for her because it was so bad.  Three days later the gynocologist went in to remove the mass and do a hystorectomy.  She was only able to remove the mass because of bleeding issues due to the livers function.  She told us she also has ovarian cancer, and that her abdomen looks like someone took a salt shaker and sprinkles cancer throughout her abdomen.  We were going home a week later but couldn't because her bilirubins were so High, so they put a T-tube in her liver so the bile can drain.  We are home now, she lives with us, she is now on a walker.  She can't take treatment, they said it would not help, plus, she has MRSA.  The doctors told me she had about 6 months if her tube continous to drain, if it stops it will be a matter of weeks.  But she feel really good some days. Has some bad pain in her back at times, and some swelling in her abdomen & legs, but thats about it.  Can anyone tell me what i need to expect, and if the time line is about right.
