Hello Pat,
Thanks for your reply....
How long was your husband on Nexavar before he was reduced to 200 mg a day? Did they reduce his dose due to the kidney tumor shrinking or at least staying the same size without signs of advancement? I am on 600 mg a day now and am able to tolerate this well. They took me completely off for 7 days sue to the temperature, then had me taking 400mg a day for 7 days.Last Thurs., I started on 600 mg a day and am able to tolerate this well. No fever so far!! The worst side effect is the hand /foot reaction, the painful scalp, and rashes, esp on my face. My feet get so sore I can hardly walk at times even though I'm taking extra care with them...foot cm, jel pads for shoes, etc. I still have body aches and fatigue but does not seem as bad as before.
Had MRI and CT scans last Thurs and the brain tumor shows to have grown. I'm on steroids now because the Brain Surgeon feels this might be inflammation rather than actual growth of tumor cells. Will take the Steroids for 3 weeks and go back for another MRI. If it is inflammation, the tumor will be smaller....I'm praying that's all it is. The kidney & lung tumor's were unchanged, which I'm thankful for.
My heart goes out to you and your husband and I'll add you to my prayers. God Bless,
