Subject: CNS Lymphoma in spinal cord

My brother was admitted to the hospital in July of this year with a tumor on his spinal cord.  He is now paralyzed from the waist down and was released from the hospital in October.  Oncology says he's responding to chemo very good and chances are he will make a good recovery.  My question to anyone is this.........Why were we told that he would never walk again, that he is immunecompromised, and this is an unfortunate situation?  He is also currently being treated for a very nasty bedsore that the hospital staff was so graciously to allow to happen.  Is there anyone who has/had or knows someone who has/had this type of lymphoma?  In my internet travels, stats say otherwise and this is fatal.

Hello,My dad has cns lymphoma in his brain. It took them about 4 months diagnose him.  Now that we have the diagnosis he is being treated with chemo. He goes every other week to receive chemo and he must stay in the hospital for 4 days, this will go on for 2 months. Then he will receive chemo once a month for about 1 yr. The dr's say there is a cure for this cancer.  Google: lisa deangelis cns lymphoma.  This cancer commonly affects hiv positive people and is rare in healthy people. Is your brother otherwise healthy? Is he walking again? Have you gotten a 2nd opionion? God bless and good luck.

My brother is mentally disabled as well as now physically.  Other than that, the worst he's had is the flu.  He has gone through 6 Rituxan sessions and no he's not walking again, He is incontinent........as in no rhyme or reason to when he goes, sometimes 7 or 8 times a day.  He's not eating much and is sleeping alot but yet I keep hearing that this is cureable.  I just dont understand.

Kellyonthespot:  hello i have been dealt a hand with cns  lymphoma, my son at the age of 19 had it.  What is the age of your brother and where is he being treated? This has alot to do with the outcome and at what stage was he diagnosed at?  What type of chemo is he getting now?  Yes he can get bedsores from lying in bed to much, that can happen to anyone.  Please write me back.Email:   --Message edited by CancerCompass staff. Hi, sorry its taken me so long to get back..I lost this site for a while there.  My brother in law is 34, had a tumor on his spine, 6 sessions of rituxan chop and apparently an injection of chemo with his spinal tap.  PET scan came back and dr. says its clean however, that same day, he was admitted back into the hospital with a severe case of C diff.  Came home 5 days before Christmas and now is on vancomyacin for the C diff and waiting for antibiotic for UTI.  I would really like to "talk" with you about all of this, Im a mess!  my email is --Message edited by CancerCompass staff.
