Subject: Information on peritaneal carcinoma
Date: 11/15/2007

My mom was recently diagnosed with Peritaneal Carcinoma  on 16th Oct.2007. I am so scared of losing her. They did not catch it till stage 4

Even though she was always at the doctor for the past year. She has already had a total of 3 drainings resulting in 4 liters of fluid drained each time.Shes had one set of cemo already and goes back and forth on how shes feeling. One minute shes mom the next we don't even reconize her.

How common is this cured in these later stages. Please help.

HI! I just noticed your message.  I was dismayed to see that no one had responded to you when there are alot of  people affected by PPC on the board.  There are several different boards pertaining to the same thing on this site so you just have to look through them.  My mother is also fighting the disease.  She was diagnosed with stage 3 in June 2006 after several months of stomach/digestive issues.  Also she is a breast cancer survivor so they are always looking more closely. She had a complete hysterectomy and debulking, then 6 months of chemo via belly port.  She was declared in remission in December of 2007.  Now she is taking tamoxofin and feels like her old self..but it took awhile.  Recently she has learned that she has a few "hot spots" in chest and abdomen areas, but they will not start any chemo yet. By now you have probably learned alot more than you when you originally posted.  HOw is your Mom doing??  Did she ever have an initial surgery?? I had a hard time finding any info when the diagnosis came down.  It was very frustrating.  What I can tell you is that at this point there is no cure for this cancer.  You can be in remission but the general diagnosis is that it will return.  We just  staay as positive as we can and spend as much quality time with her as possible. I hope you search out this site and visit other boards about this disease..there are alot of us out there that know what your going through. God bless
