Brain Metastasis Melanoma

Hi. My Dad has brain mestastasis melanoma. He had the stereotactic radiation surgery (SRS) in August. He is also on chemo pills. Two months done, two more months to go. However he now has another brain tumor. He has been recommended to have whole brain radiation surgery instead of the SRS again. Does anyone have any information about this or have you been through it? Side effects? My Dad tends to get every side affect possible for anything he takes. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Side effects include hair loss, dry skin, a bit of fatigue and redness to the skin (like a sunburn).  The hair falls out and doesn't always come back, or can come back patchy.

 My husband had the whole brain, and just completed the Gamma Ray (a laser for brains).  The GR has to be screwed into the skull yet is able to go in and get the remaining 8 lesions.

We'll be talking soon about the Synergy S, the 'gamma ray' for other parts of his body where cancer has spread.
