I am 70 years old. Does the platelet count improve during the rest period. I dont want to go off the Sutent as I am getting a goood reduction in tumor size. He said he would reduce the Sutent to 37.5 from 50 will that help. Onocology nurses said that platelet levels recover quickly. By the end of the first cyle his platelets had gone down to 82 and his WBC had also dropped down to 1.6 but by the end of the two week break they had come back to platelet 179 and WBC 2+ We won't know about effect on tumours until end of 3rd cycle when next CT scan is planned.
