About 6 weeks ago while getting my IP chemo I sneezed and unbeknowst to me dislodge my heubner needle and holy geez moly 500cc of Taxol infliltrated into the tissue in my left abd. It burned the bejesus out of me and basically ruined my chances for anymore chemo through that port, which took 3 hours for the surgeon to put in because of all my scar tissue,. Well I got a new one in the right side on Monday and it works great and Im happy. But I just wanted to let you all know that if you have an IP port to be careful, the tape doesnt really hold it in there tight and it can dislodge. Im half way through my tx, nauseous somewhat on a daily basis but doing well. Its amazing how time takes some of the terror away, Im actually living my life again somewhat and that feels good. My mom was diagnosed with stage 3C ovarian cancer, underwent IV chemo and was in remission for 4 years. Her cancer has now returned and her oncologist has recommended IP chemo. I have researched IP chemo but have found very little feedback from people who have actually had it. Can you please tell me what your side effects and experience has been as a result of the chemo being directly administered to your abdomen? I am not on this site very regularly but I do check my email daily so please respond to me that way if you don't mind. --Message edited by CancerCompass staff.
