My mom was diagnosed with Lung cancer 6 years ago,at that time the cancer was located in her one lung and she was able to have surgery to take of the tumor.My mom refused any other treatments such as chemo or radiation to kill off any other cancer cells.She did very well up until a year and a half ago when she started having problems breathing again and we found out after a pet scan the cancer returned.My mom was then diagnosed stage 4 lung cancer.It has spread to her bones,vital organs and lymphnodes and possibly her brain.She refuses an MRI to find out.She started the Tarceva last December and she has been on it for almost a year.Her blood count went up,she was feeling much better although the diarrea was bad she lived with it. .Tarceva is a Miracle Drug although it does not cure cancer it did give us our Mother for another year,along with many prayers and Gods Grace.Tarceva stops the cancer growth for a while and stops the spreading.My mom was told this past Friday by her Dr the Tarceva has apparently stopped working and the cancer is spreading again.,she is in pain and he has givin her pain meds and was told not to take the Tarceva anymore.My moms DR told her they can do Chemo and that would give her a bit more time but she said no ,she is tired of fighting and mom tells us that God will take her when He is ready for her and she has prepared herself.My dad died of lung cancer in Dec of 99......he was diagnosed Sept 27th 1999 and lived 9 weeks dad was 63 years old..Cancer treatments have come along way since 1999 and prayerfully speaking will continue to get better and FIND THAT CURE! My mom lived with Lung Cancer 6 years and that is a miracle.We know this will be her last Holiday season with us so we are making it special.God Bless
