Sore On Side Of Tongue For Over A Year

I have a pinkish gray sore on the side of my tongue, it hurts at times and I have tried all the over the counter remedies, nothing has helped. I have never ever had a cold sore or canker sore, I am 67 years old, never smoked or drank, this is scaring me, I have always been healthy, no illnesses at all, I’m afraid it may be cancer which doesn’t run in my family. I have had this for over a year, I need advice or something, I rarely go to the dr, has anyone had anything like this, please share it with me, thank you so much.

Please go to a doctor as soon as you can. If its cancer the sooner you get it taken care of the better the outcome. I have had lung cancer in 2000 and 2003. I had throat cancer they went down my throat to cut it out with a loco spray to numb it. I had 45 days of radiation doing very good now the worst was a sore throat for long time. Now if they could do something for emphysema I could do every thing I did about 65 years ago. ha ha. Realy get out and do it you will be glad you did. (p.s. it may be nothing).

Dear Kathy, Do go see a Doctor or more specifically Dentist, Dental Hygienist or Oral surgeon. Head and neck cancer can spread very quickly, but caught early patients do very well. I am a Registered Dental Hygienist and I perform oral cancer screening exams regularly at all dental cleaning and exam appts. My husband is also a survivor of oral cancer and had no history of tobacco use or alcohol use. Would like to hear how this goes for you. Jacky
