WebMD has information on H. Pylori and iron-deficiency anemia which states that if H. Pylori is left untreated, it can reduce the amount of Vitamin C in the stomach and prevent iron absorption. In addition, the article states that H. pylori needs iron to grow and can deplete the iron in the stomach. At 6 months after treatment, 75% of patients had recovered from anemia, and after 1 year 90% of the treated patients had recovered from anemia. I find that article interesting, because I have high levels of untreated H. pylori (and have probably had it for many years). Also, I found an old Myeloma Glossary that stated that some patients with MGUS also had H. Pylori. When the H. Pylori was treated, the MGUS went away. Yes, H. Pylori can cause MALT Lymphoma, autoimmune disorders, etc.
