Subject: Nexavar doesn't work anymore!
Date: 11/26/2007

Hi, my dad was on nexavar for year and a half. The medicine has stopped working and they suggest that he should try sutent. If anyone has experience in switching from nexavar to sutent, please informe me. We are quite hopeless because some dr.said that it's a practicly the same medicine and that it wan't work. For those who need info. on nexavar I can say that his first two months were terrible because it's toxic on skin but later he had a good life quality for more than a year, so it's worth trying.

Please don't mind a poor spelling. Good luck everyone. Ana

My dad was also on Nexavar for about 18 months before it stopped working.  Tried Sutent, but on the second round had chest pains, so doctor stopped treatment.  Now getting ready to start Torisel, which is the newest drug (approved in May 07) for treatment of advanced RCC.  Torisel is not taken orally, but given intraveneously once a week.  I believe Torisel works in a similar fashion to Nexavar and Sutent, but in a different way.  From what I've read, there have been good results with trials.  Your dad may want to inquire about Torisel.
