I don't know if this is quite the same thing, but I am a survivor of 40 years of oral cancer. I lost half of my palate and my cheek bone. I wore a dental prosthesis for most of these years until about 5 years ago, I was sent to an oral plastic surgeon, who replaced the prosthesis with a muscle flap from my temple and eventually a bone graft from my hip and then dental implants.. It so far has been magnificent. I am very happy to be able to eat and drink without it coming out of my nose and having constant sinus infections. I answered mainly to give support. I hope all worked out well for your father in law. Judy
