Hi Cindy's mom..my dog was diagnosed 1 year ago Dec. 8th and she was given 2 mos to 8 months and still going strong..it's been a year now and we had her on peroxicam for 2 days and I could tell DAISY was uncomfortable..
We decided NO CHEMO and let her be happy and let it take it's course with a good diet of Omego 3 (get it at Walmart called EXPECTA in the pharmacy) 400 miligrams for a 60 lb dog Twice a day with cream cheese.
Also we have her on cottage cheese with flax oil (1/4 cup with 2 tblespoons once in the morning and once at night..about 1/2 hour before dinner)
Basic diet: chicken breast of turkey breast with spinach and Innova wet canned dog food( no carbs) some have salmon some turkey - all natural.
She can have some kibbles that are natural (the small kibble) that we give her form Trader Joes..she is a Statistic here on line. She feels good, plays, runs.
NOW, we had one recent scare where she was bleeding on Oct. 24th for 4-5 days we thought it was the end...BUT we put her on SULFA Trimithroprine antibiotic and it cleared up her infection and helps her pee.
We are out of them now, but will start back up in a week if she starts having problems again..or at least a lower dose.
Good luck to you..but Chemo will lower her immune system..let her live a "quality LIfe"
Good luck.let me know your progess.
