Hello:
I have been having symptoms very similar to the ones associated with Bile Duct Cancer, but am unsure about what to think:
1. I have itching, jaundice, have experienced swelling in my legs, loss of appetite (sick whenever I eat almost anything), and really dark urine.
Based on what you folks know, would you say I have bile duct cancer? If I do have bile duct cancer, I don't want to put my family through what sounds like 95% failure in treatment. I don't consider the 5% change I would live sufficient justification for the pain caused to them. I guess I know where I'm going if I pass on. I go in for a CT scan on Monday - just curious as to your thoughts on whether I have bile duct cancer - please don't commend on my willingness to receive treatment - in that I am firm.
Thanks very much.
Hi,
Your message sounds so lonely to me. If this is about bileduct cancer, you should not go alone through this. Please keep in mind that there are people around you who love you and they want to share this with you. Not because they have to, but because they want to.
My, through all his live so healthy and sportive, young looking husband (we both are 61) has been diagnosed with this cancer in May. Surgery was tried, but broken off. The liver and the gallways are too badly infected to perform surgery and there was a metastase. From the beginning of this awful discovery we very openly spoke to family and friends. And got so many warm and loving reactions. When Peter came home from the hospital the doctors told us we had a couple of weeks, at the most 3 months. Peter very soon started LIVING again. Went back to his work, plays squash and we are seeing lots of friends and have family gatherings. Six months (!) have passed now. Yes, he is very slowly going down. But the quality of these six months we had have been extremely high and even happy. (Peter refused chemo because that would only stretch his lifetime for a few weeks, but would have caused loss of quality of life.)
I very much hope that your jaundice has another cause than this cancer. But if not, I wish for you that you and the people around you can handle this as my Peter does. You know, we can still laugh about things and we are having such special and wonderful days too.
Will you please let me know how you are doing in the time to come? And also wat the outcome of the investigation of today is?
I wish you all the strength you can find, but also still a lot of happy days to come.
Kind regards,
Iris (the Netherlands)
