Hi,

My name is Shelley and I just happened to run across this site and am greatful that I did. I am 37 years old a mother of 2 beautiful daughters. About 7 years ago month of novemeber i was diagonised with cervical cancer and went through the LEEP procedure had no problems at all. I guess what bothered me was from the time i had my youngest daughter which was in july of 2000 to november i didn't stop bleeding even when I was on the Depo shot so i was refered to a specialist in november and found out I had cervical cancer.

I am here today because because a little over a month ago I just found out that my cervical cancer is back again. In the mean time i was schedule to have my tubes tied. I went through that surgery and the two weeks following my surgery i went in for my followup to have a colposcopy done to confirm my cancer.  Right now I am not sure what to do. I was told I was too come in for either a LEEP procedure or a cone biopsy. But right now I am refusing either one of them and goin in every 4 months for my pap starting in march. I have been told by my regular female physician that to get rid of it was to have a hysterectomy ( guess you could say i am regretting of goin through havin my tubes tied instead of havin the hysterectoromy) I guess you could say that I am scared of goin through with the LEEP or cone biopsy only to find out later down the road that my cancer has come back again.

I feel like i am in a bind and not sure what to do. Like i said before I am 37 yrs old and yes my cancer has come back .

Hi there,

Sounds to me like you're basically asking if you should hold out for a hysterectomy. My suggestion would be to talk to another doctor and get that second opinion. Maybe some other doctor will be more willing to do it. I believe women have a sense about their bodies that science can't explain. If you think the safest thing for you to do is have the hysterectomy then that is what you should push for. I will say after reading other's messages that you ought to go and see a gynecological oncologist.

Good luck, let us know how things go.

Amy
