Possibly Melanoma?

Hi everyone, I'm a 16 year old male and I am beginning to get worried about a small little dark brown circular freckle/mole on my left shoulder. It's been there for a very long time, and I'm beginning to worry about it being melanoma. I have some swollen lymph nodes (i'm on antibiotics at the moment, and the node has gone down quite a lot) and I've heard that this was also a symptom of melanoma. The freckle is pretty small, I dont even think its 1mm. Im just checking here to get some information for people who know about this type of cancer.

Im going back to my doctor in 2 weeks, in which then I will have him check out this abnormal freckle.

Generally melanoma would be unusual in someone your age, but not impossible.  Has it changed any?  Remember the ABC's of melanoma that aid in diagnosis.

Asymetry, means it is an odd shape.  Border, means the border is irregular.  Color, means it is several different colors and Diameter, means that melanomas are generally larger than normal moles. 

When in doubt have a dermatologist check it out.

A few signs to look for:

If the mole is not round

Irregular in color

If it has grown in size and raised

Your doctor should be able to tell you more.
