Before I took taxol for breast cancer I was healthy and strong.  The taxol gave me herendous pains in my legs and feet, so bad I could hardly stand.  It has been over 3 months since my last taxol treatment and my knees are totally buckled up.  If I sit with my knees bent I cannot get up.  My ankles also have the same feeling. Doctor says it was from the steroids but I disagree.

I had the same problem and it went thru my entire body.  My legs were the worse.  Especially about bending your knees,  Does it hurt in the back of your knees,

Mine became so bad that the doctor had to put me on pain meds to make it thru or I would be totally debilitated.

I can remember the days when I would get down on the floor to get something and not be able to get back up without help.  Now it's better since I have the pain meds.

This started in February, 2005.

Good luck to you I hope you can find some relief.

 God Bless

Linda

My husband was given Taxol for the second time last week along with cisplatin for his esophagul cancer. he had an adverse reaction to it and had to be given an anti drug and was sent to emergency as a precaution. they don't know why after the second time he had a reaction but he will not receive that drug again. As far as the pain goes, he was taking ibuprofin  extra strength and that seemed to help. Good Luck!

I
am a breast cancer survivor of 5 years and I had been on the same
chemo. I also experienced terrific pains throughout my whole
body...especially in the joints....while I have been finished with this
whole experience, I find  that I have nerve problems in my hands
and feet to this day. Also I have experienced pains in joints as well
and have complained to the oncologist as well to no avail. Having done
some research I have found that some side effects last for many years
and there is a study for chemo brain....which has affected some people
after chemo for many years. You can email me at

It's possible that you are having chemo induced neuropathy.  Many people have found relief by taking Neurontin or the generic, Gabapentin, which blocks nerve pain.  Please talk to your dr about it, it could help.
