Radiation Side Effects A Week Later?

i'm sorry if my question is something that has already been talked about.

i am new to this site...

my 89 year old mom had one week of radiation for breast cancer.

she finished last friday and is now sick, vomiting, cold, with flu like symptoms.

are these side effects of the radiation?

Dear Jean --  I'm in the same position as your mom in that I finished radiation (here called radiotherapy) a week ago.  In my case it was radiation to my femurs for extreme pain in my legs.  I do not have any of the 'side effects' which your mother is experiencing, however I am having terrible cramping in my lower abdomen.  This pain has been so bad over the past two days that it has woken me from sound sleep for the last two nights.  I was told that I might have loose bowels, fatigue -- but not this!  I would love to know if anyone else has had this happen to them.  I'd take your mom to your local doctor and have all of these symptoms checked out!  Best wishes to you both, Cath
