If your psa is rising after surgery there are cancer cells in your body,do not wait to treat.Dick responded to Rosie and was wondering about after affects of radiation. My husband had it will little side affects. But you know what, your life is more important then some mild side affects, these could save ,or at least prolong your life.If you look at the replies to Rosie you will see my husband is still fighting rising psa,I can not imagine where he would be if his dr. had not taken an aggressive treatment approach to this .

Also,to anyone that does not already know,a psa below 4.0 does not mean you do not have cancer, when my husband was diagnosed his psa was 4,0.The dr. said that 20% of prostate cancers does not raise the psa over that.If your psa is going up with each test, get scoped. My husbands cancer was almost at stage 2 when caught.six yrs ago.

Carol Mac, I agree, I cant imagine where my husband would be if we waited 6 months to re check his psa as his family Dr. recommended. Might have spread to the bones, who knows!!  Its not a disease you mess around with. I have learned a lot from reading and researching and one thing I do know for sure if that you are in charge of your own destiny and need to keep track of your medical records etc... thanks for sharing. Please try alternative therapy such as diet, supplements and vitamin c IV.  do research as much as you can.  my dad psa rose after suregery and was supported by hormone injections. he has not and will not do radiation or chemo.. mainly becuase it ends up doing more harm then good for the body and make it harder to fight the battle.  his diet is all organice, veggies, as much as he can do raw, no meat but wild fish only... and great supplemnts.  the main which has lowered his psa from a scary 178 to 54 in a month is prostasol... form england.. they do not sell in US.   do research go to an alteranative clinic close by that deos vitamin c therapy and eat good!  that is the best defence.  the only therapy he still does once in a while is zometa to keep bones stronger. his doc is so impressed he actually is telling other patients about it!

best,

sophia

Hi sophia It's great to see this post about your Dad. I am so glad he is doing well without harming his body. Building a strong immune system is the key. Did I ever share with you the story about my friend who was cured of his terminal prostate cancer using only alternative therapies? I posted it here on the board back in early 2007 under prostate cancer and 714X. Let me know if you can't find it and I'll repost it. Continued success for your Dad.
