About ten years ago, I started a “tradition” in my household. Each time a new season or special holiday rolled around, I thought up rather long and ingenious rhymes for my voice mail.message. Over the years, those messages have gone by the wayside, but the Christmas one has remained strong and each year is put back on, accompanied by some background Christmas carol. Its message, at least to me, is important, and I wanted to share it with all of you.
“I’m sorry we’re not here,
To answer your call,
We may be out shopping,
YES, even at the mall!
While Santa and his reindeer
Are certainly all right.
The true meaning of Christmas
Lies with the babe born that cold, starry night.
Amid all of the hustle, the bustle and fun,
Remember that GOD sent to us
His One and Only true Son.
So, please never forget,
But always remember
The reason for this season
And not just in December
Now one final thought
To those big and small
From our household to yours
Merry Christmas to ALL!
My Christmas wish for each of you is that the peace, joy, love and hope that the birth of Jesus brought into this world, be with you today, tomorrow and for all the days to come. May we all enjoy this Christmas, surrounded by family and friends and plan for many, many more to celebrate in the coming years!
