Itching And Sleeplessness

Does anyone know of any good meds for the itching and inability to sleep that comes with bile duct cancer? We've tried Questran (cholestyramine) for itching with limited success. Anything you might know would be appreciated.

How come they can't stop the itch, did you have a stent put in, maybe you can explain to me exactly what they did to you? As far as the sleeplessness goes I am having the same problem, its really wearing me down to the point I get over tired and become fevered and feel like I have been run over by a tractor trailer. I started out with the itch but after they put a stent in it did relieve it, but I ended up with having the bile duct removed and half of my liver. That was done in Dec. of 2004, hope you are feeling better. Hope to hear from you. By the way was your cancer called a klatskin tumor?

My oncologist suggested Benadryl tablets over the counter - it worked - after trying creams, ointments prescribed by dermatologist.
