Merry Christmas to all of you....

Not too long again I sent a message about my mom and her problem with breathing.  Now I have a question for all of you regarding my mom again.  She has these episodes of gurgling and then she throws up all this foam.  This is when she can't breathe through her mouth or her nose.  She is really scared when this happens.  I was hoping someone out there has had this happen and could give me some feed back.  I want my mom to be able to live somewhat normally and not worry about this.  Waiting to hear back from someone who has experienced this.  Thanks.

 Blessings,

 Paula

Paula is your mom eating or drinking???  When my dad was doing this they doctor immediately got him into the hospital.  I believe it was due to dehydration, after we got into the hospital they put a stent in and he's been better ( at least able to eat)

Paula,

Could you call her doctor and ask if it could be related to a reflux problem?  Has the doctor been told about these episodes and explained just what happens?  This certainly does sound frightening for your Mom.

Please let me know what you find out.  I hope it is reflux related, there are simple medications out there for the problem and if that's the case, your Mom would be much more comfortable.  I do hope it's something as simple as that.

I just joined the message board and did not see your original note.  My husband had an esophagectomy in March of 2006.  After the surgery, he began to have a problem with lots of mucus.  He began throwing up this foamy kind of mucus and this has continued to be an issue ever since.  We give him benadryl regularly, and it helps keep it manageable, but it baffled me at first because I knew he wasn't throwing up in the usual way, and I doubted it was even coming up from his stomach.  Might want to try benadryl and see it it helps, or ask your doctor if that might be a possibility.

I had (and still have ) this problem with the foamy muscus that you are talking about.  I had EC surgery in 04 and mine is related to reflux.  I don't have it everyday, but sometimes if my system is not just right it will happen in the middle of the night or if I don't elevate myself enough when I sleep I will asperate (I know thats not spelled correctly) and if I do the foamy mucus will be very heavy.  Other than this problem, I am getting along just fine.  I do take Previcid every morning for indigestion.  Talk to your doctor about this, but it can be a minor, however a very agravating problem.

God bless you and Happy, Healty New Year!!!!!

Gerri
