I made my first budwig blend and turn out throwing every thing away because the smell and teste of it

6 - Tbsp Organic cottage cheese

3 - Tbsp. of flaxseed oil

2 - Tbsp. of freshly ground up flaxseed ( i think the seeds is raw )

 few question

1) is it ok for me to use yogurt instead of cottage cheese and what is the disadvantage of it ?

 2) is it ok to have the flaxseed make it to powder and mix with water then drink it  ?

3)  is there any special way to process the seeds to teste better with no smell ?

I know what you mean. I did the same thing the first time I prepared it, and even after several other attempts I still don't feel I can do it. Just before Christmas I read this message in this website with a new recipe.  I tried only once and promised that after Xmas I would give it a try. I will not say it tastes good but it has a chance. Just add all kinds of fruit : berries. grapes, bananas, apples etc... cut up in small chunks to the mixtures. Go to : www.youtub.com/watch?v=RSoddptWL0s  there is a short video that might interest you.

Your  questions : 1) Yes you can substitute cottage cheese with plain yogurt. The flax seed MUST be ground, not more than 10 to 15 minutes before eating it( I usually  prepare everything and when I am ready to start mixing the flax seed I grind it and add it in.

I do not know the answer to question 2 nd 3 where did you hear about them ?

Good luck with your next try I have not started on it yet I gave myself a break from " good" food for the holidays so I could taste ALL THE GOOD FAMILY RECIPES !. But I intend to start on it soon.

I never seem to have your problems. I had a brunch this morning as I was painting part of the house outside and didn't eat anything after my morning pills. I have been fighting Melanoma including invasion of pulmonary artery for 11 year now. I make a mixture of several things but the secret is getting it well blended. I store ground flax seed in the refigreator for short periods. I start off by mixing honey into 3 heaping tablespoons of flaxseeds in a medium bowl, then put some sort of fruit chopped or cut up small. then I put about 1/2 cup of cottage chese along with either cucumber, onion or chili Powder into a small food chopper and add 3-4 tablespoons of cold pressed flaxseed oil that I get from The Vitamin Shoppe. Blend this well so that it makes a homogenous mixture. This goes on top of the fruit as a third layer in the bowl. Then top it with some chopped nuts any kind but Peanuts and enjoy this is a version of the budwig diet that i can live with. I had strawberries this morning and added some sugar free glaze for strawberries to the cottage cheese and Flx seed oil mixture.  You dont mix it up but eat your way through the four layers. Now of course I am 74 and eat anything that doesn't eat me first so I may have an advantage

You can use plain yogurt, but it must be strained first or it will not work. Strain it 6-8 hours using cheesecloth. The point of the milk product is as a carrier for the flaxseed oil; the importance is less what type, but how well it performs in this capacity. Unstrained yogurt has too much whey.

Once the flax oil/yogurt mixture is completely blended (takes at least a minute or so) and you've stirred in the freshly-ground flax seeds, you can add all sorts of thing as the previous poster said, from sweet (fruit NOT sugar!) to savory to improves the taste. Just make sure to down the entire amount of the mixture each time. I too hate the taste of the flax oil as I taste bitter things exceptionally well. However, the whole seeds when fresh should taste nutty. You may have got rancid seeds. They are very cheap so try replacing them and see if that helps.
