Hi, Duran!

Yes!  I had a limb perfusion on 3/18/03.  It was a difficult surgery, but I truly believe that it saved my life!  Are you planning to have this surgery?  What stage is your melanoma?  Let me know if you have any questions.  Lynn

Hi Lynn,

I am having the ILP surgery in June.  Can you tell me a little about your post op experience.  Did you experience a lot of pain and/or swelling?   How long before you were on your feet again?  How long before you went back to work?   How is your leg today?

Thank you for any information you're willing to share.  Julie

Dear Julie, Have you had the ILP yet? How did it turn out? I am told that would be a good treatment for me but a newer and much less invasive version is the Isolated Limb Infusion ( ILI ). Unfortunately it is only done in NY or Texas in the US and I live on the west coast so my Doc. is starting me on Aldara 5% cream for the multiple lesion on my leg. I hope your treatment went well. Ellen

Ellen,

I had the ILP on Jun 19 so still recovering.   I have not heard about the ILI.  It's too early to tell if my ILP was successful as far as kicking back the cancer, but the surgery went well.  I'm still very tired and my leg is really sore but it's bearable.   Did they tell you the ILI was only done in Texas?  Or the ILP?  I am on the east coast but know of someone else who had ILP in California.   I wish you good luck with your treatments, whatever route you take.  Julie

Julie, Happy to hear your ILP went well and hope the Melanoma responds as well. How long were you in the hospital? Are you under 60 years old? The ILI is the procedure done in New York and Texas. I am starting treatment today with the ALDARA 5% cream while I am waiting for ILI to be available in California. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Ellen
