When To Run To The Oncologist

Subject: When to run to the Oncologist
Date: 01/03/2008

Hi there,

I have recently gone through treatment for Stage 3 colon cancer. I had two lymph nodes that were positive. I had surgery and chemo (5FU and Leucovorin) I had my last treatment in August 07. My last checkup of a month and a half ago showed no cancer. Since stopping chemo in August, I have had a cornucopia of side effects like muscle aches, abdominal discomfort, difficult BMs. Is this due to the surgery and or chemo?? All of these symptoms come and go. My question is, when should I contact the oncologist. Is there somewhere on the internet that list common symptoms from the "Treatment" of the cancer. How do you differentiate between that and a possible recurrence? I just don't want to drive my doctor crazy from pestering calls. It has to tell what is "normal" anymore.

Cheers,

LanceĀ
