Subject: Mild dysplasia

I was diagnosed with High Risk HPV three years ago.  When I went for my annual pap 3 months a, I had an abnormal pap.  My doctor sent my pap off to the lab and the results came back as Mild Dysplasia.  My Doctor advise me to freeze the cells off and repeat my pap in three months.  I just left the doc office ans it is killing me to find out my results.  I have been in a comitted relationshio for two years, I do not smoke, only drink socially, I have began to take vitamin but I do have ulcerative colitis and raynaud syndrome which is autoimmune disease.  My worries are that my immune system is too weak to fight off the HPV...My question is this how often does the abnormal regenerate themselves to have a recoccurance of dysplasia?? If my pap comes back abnormal again what is the next step?  Thanks.

I don't know how recurrences happen, But I have been hearing things about DIM, which helps the immune system. I'd like to know more about that because I think anything that can build up immunity should be advocated.

I had a pap come back mild dysplasia six months ago.  A month later I had a colposcopy and a biopsy.  The results confirmed mild dysplasia.  My dr. told me my immune system will most likely clear it on it's own and to come back for a follow-up in 6 months.  I had my follow-up yesterday.  I asked her if there was a decent chance my system had cleared it and she said definetely, that in the majority of mild dysplasia cases she saw that it was cleared in the follow-up pap.  She said if it just stays mild I'll come back in another six months for another pap.  Although, I didn't ask but I imagine I would have to have another colpo too.

It's interesting that your dr. told you to get the cells frozen off for mild dysplasia.  From what I have read it is standard to have a follow up pap for mild dysplasia.

I have also heard about DIM and have been taking it for the past 3 mos.  I have read a couple of trials that are going on with it in regards to cervical cancer as well so I figured I would give it a try.
