My Dad was diagnosed in March of this year and has since had 1 round of chemo and a stent fitted.  He got a blockage two weeks ago and they have since fitted a second stent, but his voice is now really husky.  Has anyone else come across this??  Apart from that he is doing quite well and we have crossed everything that it stays that way, (he was given 6 months and he is still here!)  his radiation starts in three weeks.

Any advice please!

Hi, again,

I'm sorry, I just responded to your message thinking you were on the kidney cancer web site and saw afterwards that it WAS esophageal cancer. I am wondering if you would mind sharing how this was all discovered in your Dad. My Dad was  diagnosed a little late and he had stomach problems first, which he thought were ulcers. They couldn't see much at first in the x-rays. It took so long that by the time he was diagnosed, he was inoperable, and remember that was over 12 years ago.

Hi Deb,

My Dad started having trouble swallowing in Sept 2006 and we found out he had terminal cancer in March 2007, the time delay was due to the NHS system in the UK (Appointments not being made etc). The trouble is I am in Australia while dad is in the UK, so this website is pretty much my only outlet.

Hope you are doing ok.
