I am 59 years old and have stage 2 ovarian cancer.  I was first diagnosed in July '05.  I have received taxol, carbo platin, doxal, gemzar, putupolone, as well as other clinical trials.  I have recently had a spread onto my liver.  I have heard about Avastin as a possible treatment that can be taken as a stand alone treatment or in combination with other chemo.  Has anyone taken Avastin and if so has it proven successful at all?  Praying for a cure.

I am in a clinical drug study which combines carboplatin, taxol and a form of avastin called bevacizimab.  I have been in treatment for nearly a year.  The study drug ( if I am getting it) has few if any effects.  My blood counts have been good now that I am just receiving the study drug/placebo.  Patients at my dotor's office are getting avastin, but many insurance companies will not pay for it.

I, too, am in a study getting Avastin or a placebo, even tho I am pretty sure I am getting the real deal.  However, My CA125 continues to climb.  It is now 285.3.  I had surgery 2/2/07 in which I had stage 3C OC, and they removed 4 large masses (1 the size of a cantoulope) and my colon.  I feel great except for getting tired easily, but my numbers just keep climbing. The lowest they have been is 106.  I have a CT scheduled for the 14th, and will find out more then.  I had just turned 50 a few days before my OC was discovered.

My Mother is on Avastin and is now having strange problems. She suddenly can't walk without a walker and has lost a lot of her memory. No one can find anything wrong with her after 2 weeks in the hospital. They moved her to a rehap center where they are working to get her memory and motor skills back. Its been 3 weeks and so far no luck. We all feel it is from the Avastin and the doctors have removed her from the study. Do you have any memory problems, walking problems?
