Subject: symptoms of stomach cancer
Date: 01/07/2008
hi, my nan was diagnosed with stomach cancer nearly 3 years ago now and was told that shed only have a year to live. it is very slow growing and she has been doing really well apart from having lymphoedema in her legs which is making it very hard to get about and to do things that shes been so used to doing herself. she had chemo at the early stages but came off it as it wasnt making much difference to the cancer and was making her feel really poorly. lately shes been having alot of sickness but the fluid in her legs has reduced but dont understand why? if anybody reading this can come up with an answer and knows wether the fluid reduction has anything to do with her being sick please please let me know as the more i understand the easier is to deal with thanku and my prayers go out to everybody thats suffering and finding it hard.

My Father has stomach cancer and over Christmas was vomitting excessive amounts, we assumed it was the chemo that he had had. None of the anti-sickness drugs were working when he was in Hospital and a scan was carried out which showed his stomach was completely blocked.  Not saying this would be your Nans problem but its worth investigating.  My Fathers tumor is of the aggressive type, also all his contents of his stomach were being brought up after eating. He now has as stent , which lets him eat small amount of mashed food.

Good Luck

thankyou for youre reply and i will take what youve said into consideration. my nan seems to be ok at the moment shes had some sort of sickness tablets which have been working so far and has been told to stop taking her iron tablets which were probably not helping. the swelling on her legs is still alot better and seems to be able to move about alot easier. i know that it will probably progress but you just want the best for them and hate the the thought of them suffering. reading what you said about your fathers stomach being blocked, i know my nan does have alot of fluid around hers and makes her look like shes 5mnths pregnant. i will definatly mention what uve said as i can talk to her about anything and shes taking life so well. thankyou again for youre reply and my love and best wishes go out to youre father xxxx ps. where are you from its just interesting to know as this is such a big website? im from the uk jennaxx
