Stutent - Urological Problems

Finished my 6th treatment of Sutent and I'm experiencing some urological problems in the form of TIA / very slight stroke.  Progress with Sutent has been very encouraging so far with my tumors and mets consistently shrinking  and I don't want to change treatment if possible.  However, my oncologist is a little reluctant to continue the Sutent considering the fear of high blood presure and stroke increasing.  This is the beginning of the 4th week off Sutent and I feel absolutely great!  I'm now taking seisure medication also.  I also agree that the Sutent is increasing my blood pressure when I take it.

My Oncologist is now contacting manufacturer (Pfiser) and other oncologists  for more input before making a decision.  Does anyone have any experiences and/or suggestions which I should consider on this subject that they could share.

RCC kidney cancer, stage 4, discovered in Feb. '07.  Kidney not removed, only treatment, Sutent.  Every scan shows progress so far.  I'm on 50 MG, Sutent.

Hurly,  I don't really know if I can answer or help you, but wanted to share my story and hopefully we both can get some answers from someone out there.  My husband is on round two of Sutent 37.5 and doing really well as well and you.  His BP is high and Dr. put him on Diauretic to help get rid of fluids to decrease BP.  Didn't realize there was the possiblity of stroke.  After labs on Monday, his creatinin level was high and they don't want to take the chance of damaging only kidney he has so have him taking diaruitic every other day and next Monday find out what his levels are and will decide what to do.  I know he doesn't want to take any chances of Stroke.  Did you go through taking Diauretic?  Also, the only side affects he is having - first round was sore feet and cold sores on mouth and rash on butt cheeks.  That all went away during his 2-week off period and now during second round, his hands are sore, may sound crazy, but his hands are lighter in color?  He is Hispanic and that in its self would be odd as his skin is farily dark.  Any advice of anyone?  Hurley I wish you continued success now and in the future.  Katrina
