Amswers Needed!

Okay hello everyone I am new to the board...I had bad abnormal cells that kept coming back...so I did the leep procedure...went back to the doctor he said everything was find it was all removed...then I went back again a couple months later and I have some abnormal cells again...so yet I am nervous again...when I thought I was in the clear...so I go back on January 19th to see what is up...now I need to ask a couple of questions I am 29 when I was about 17 years old I had sex almost with this guy he didnt have a condom on but it still went in me halfway..then at 18 years old I met my boyfriend who I am still with now and half been in a monogamous relationship with only him...and then I go to the doctor in 2006 and find out I had HPV mind you I have never ever been to a gyn in my life so I was totally shocked to find this out does this mean he slept with someone else...or could my first partner have given this to me and it was building up in me all of this time...can it take that long I cant get a straight answer about this...I mean there are so many different things you hear.I know I only were with these two men intimately and he was supposedly only with me all these years...can anyone help me? How long does it take to build up?

 Sorry you are going through this.  But do NOT blame yourself.  The stats are about 85% of people will have the HPV virus at some point in their life.  Most of them will never know they have it because their immune system will clear it without them ever having any symptoms of the virus.  Men can carry it for years and never have any symptoms.  And yes, it could have been dormant in your body for several years.  It could have been dormant in your husbands body for several years before he met you.  There is really no way to know.  Just know that this is soooooo common that there is no way to know where you got it or how long that you have had it.  Now that you know you have it, prevention is the key.  So, listen to your dr., ask questions, and keep up on those paps for the rest of your life!
