Where does a person go, when they have health insurance, but it does not pay 100 percent of medical bills, but only 80 percent. I am one year cancer free now, and owe thousands upon thousands of dollars in medical bills that insurance refused to pay. It seems I am not eligible for any moneys, from other sources because my husband makes to much money. We are not rich, we are barely getting by on his salary, and because he makes more then 15 thousand dollars a year, I am not eligible for any aid from the state, county, federal, or any other orangizations that offer help. Cancer is not cheap, insurance companies are, they want their premiums but when it comes time for them to pay, they don't pay or they agree to pay a small percentage after you fight with them, threaten law suit, etc.... So where do people like me turn to for financial help?

I think we need to really push this year especially with the Politicians. Insurance Companies should not being so profit oriented. This is not a great solution but contact your debtors and try to let them know you will pay them each month see if they will give you a discount like they work out with Insurance companies. Then let them know you will pay $10.00 a month. If you don't fail to make payment they won't be happy but they can't force you to do anything else. Also let them know you do not want any phone calls work/home..I am taking Tarceva, last month I paid a $50.00 co-pay. The drug does cost $ 3,398.84 for 30 days for a 150MG pill. I went to pick up this month's prescription this time they want 849.71 Humana has decided since 1/1/08 to make it a level 4 drug. Some insurance companies charge only $20.00/$30.00/50.00. There is no generic drug and when you are dealing with level IV due you want to fool around if its working.. Sorry I would

Hospital refuses to take payments, am now being sued for what medical bills are owed. Drs also charge exhuberant interest fees on their medical bills owed.. If I was foreigner or illegal immigrant I would get medical services FREE! Go figure!

My husband was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme in Dec. '07 and was operated on in Jan '08. We are looking at huge hospital bills and other related bills. We have no insurance coverage and we are starting to pay off all the medical bills on a monthly bases. The surgery caused him to have right sided perpherial vision loss so he can't continue with the driving job he was doing. We don't qualify for any programs even though I am the only one working now. The help that is out there looks at what you made the last year and that was much higher with him working.

For possible help with prescriptions, see http://www.togetherrxaccess.com/Tx/jsp/home.jsp . Cancercare http://www.cancercare.org/ might be able to help with co-pays. Medical care can be very hard if you do not have good insurance. My friend's medical insurance company cancelled her insurance retroactively after she had a heart attack shortly after enrolling in the insurance plan. She is too young for Medicare. While she was hospitalized for the heart attack, they found a sinus tumor in her head, later found to be cancerous. She now has no insurance, little chance of ever getting any, a $300,000 hospital bill that she is paying a little on every month, and is struggling to get her cancer treated. I think every legislator should have only the same opportunities to get medical insurance as the rest of us have. . . boy, would things change fast.

I read your message. I represent MedWise (see medwisehealthcareinc.com) a provider of patient assistance programs for prescription drugs. You must not have prescription drug insurance and must meet maximum income constraints in order to qualify. If you think that i might be able to help, please respond via e-mail.
