Granulosa Cell Tumor Survivor Question

Subject: Granulosa Cell Tumor Survivor Question

Hi,

I was diagnosed with Juvineal Granulosa Tumor/Cyst in 1990.  I had a 6.5lb tumor/cyst removed.  I know that there was some leakage into my abdominal cavity and that they did a wash during surgery.  It is now almost 18 years later and my inhibin B levels are elevated for me and my ct-scan showes a tumor or enlarged ovary.  My gyn/onc has ordered another blood level and ct in the mean time and will go from there.

In the mean time I had my mammogram done at the same time as the blood draw that prompted the ct.  It came back with a "mass" that after ultrasound appears to be solid.  I am wondering what the chances are that it is cancerous.  I am having a sterotactic biopsy/lumpectomy on monday and should get the results back later in the week.  I called the American Cancer Society and they did some research on it, but due to such a small number of ovarian cancer being GCT they did not have any date other then what I had already concluded myslef.

Is there anyone else out there that has had GCT and then breast cancer?  Did they feel the 2 were related?  Does anyone know if there is an increased risk with GCT over regular ovarian cancer since GCT tends in increase estrogen levels which in turn seems to increase the chance of breast cancer?

Thanks,
Paula
