Subject: no insurance, no hope!!!
Date: 01/11/2008
I have posted before (concerned wife psa rising) about my husbands recurrence of prostate cancer. He now has to get lupron shots and radiation. We have no insurance and the cost for all of this medical care is very concerning. Its a shame that one has to worry about being sick, and to have to be burdened with the expense. We feel that we are being treated differently by not having insurance. To lengthy to explain. We have always had insurance, he is a retired police officer and I am a retired nurse. We have been denied insurance due to the circumstances. Just seems a shame to me and felt like I needed to vent. Thanks for listening.

Check with your local American Cancer society, local police officers association and I think you will find ideas for help. Go in person to your local cancer society.

Not being silly, get rid of your assets, be poor on paper, apply for medicaid or whatever your state combines for federal medical help, ...hopefully, your husband has not passed a point of being able to be helped....that is a decision your caregivers may have made in their charts but not shared fully with you..may go something like this, ...if max. treatment cant "buy" 9-15 yrs, then the max. potential treatment may be off the radar, sort of remedial stuff may be offered or proposed....best wishes
