Subject: Mystery Illness After Chemo and Radiation

This is a new experience for me on any sort of mesg. board. I'm out here asking for anyone who may experience the following symptoms after both chemo and radiation. My Father had lung cancer, (I can get the specifics if needed) and at SLU had a radical surgery to remove some ribs and his lung. It' s now been 3 years and he occassionally experiences some severe weakness followed by a severe migrane and then procedes to vomit violently. After this "spell" he is in bed for a couple days to recover. Most of the time we have to take him to the ER where is oxygen level is found to be low but otherwise they dont treat anything specific. He is in MI where the other children live and his current dc's think it is just migranines and takes some med. for that. Dad is still taking Morphine and something else for pain daily but these spells are terrible and I sure hope someone out there may know this condition or think it could be something. I appreciate all the help. It is devistating to see this especially since we've come so far. He has had an MRI and CAT scans but I think they were only of the brain to check for something there. Please send me any ideas. Thank You

hi my name is gilda and my brother just finished chemo for squamous lung cancer, and i read your message, my advice regarding, your father is he is getting sick because of the medication, morphine should have been stopped, it is highly addictive, and very difficult to stop, so when you are full of this medication and time goes by, your body needs more, and its way of saying it is making you sick and vomit and stomach cramps, so if your dad can slowly start taking less morphine and pain killers he eventually be better, it s all in your mind, it s like smoking and drinking but worse, i am telling you this because of past friends with drug abuse addictions, morphine (heroin) tylenol 3, and percocets, it was really tough to stop, they actually needed hospitalization, to help the pain to stop, i hope i helped, and i sincerely hope your dad is fine. bye, gilda
