I still sleep with my husband, and contrary to what everyone thinks, I don't slide to the bottom of the bed because of the slant, although we sleep on a tempurpedic, so maybe you would on a regular mattress. They have a set of blocks to raise the bed at either Bed and Bath or Linens N Things, but we just used a few stacked pieces of 2x4 under the headboard. We're going on two years of sleeping this way and it's been thoroughly unremarkable. For all I know, it may be helping my stomach. I remember giving nexium samples back to the gastroenterologist when my husband didn't take it any longer. He told me I should keep them because before we got through our journey I was going to need them, but I still don't...So if you find the wedge uncomfortable, don't be afraid to try slanting the mattress.
