Just wanted to send out some encouraging news to those of you battling RCC. My husband was diagnosed in May with a large mass in his left  kidney and mets to lungs, adrenal gland, and hepatic lobe. He has been on sutent 50 mg for 7 cycles with few side effects, mostly in the last 10 days of the 28 day cycle. His Ct scan revealed that the RCC is disappearing and shrinking.  The report said "marked decrease" with some nodules in the lungs completely gone. The main tumor has shrunk from 5.5 cm to 3.6 cm and the main one in the lung has gone down to 1 cm. The tumor in his adrenal glands is gone.. At the time of his diagnoses, he was given 3-6 mos. We are in the 8th month and he is back working fulltime and active. He gets tired some and needs more rest. Food tastes bad the last week or so, but otherwise the sutent has been very tolerable. We are strong believers in the healing power of God and have stood upon the scriptures from the beginning. We are thankful for the sutent and the doctors, but give all the glory to God. Our prayers are with you all. Hope this will encourage others about sutent. My husband's doctor plans to keep him on it until his CT scans show "all clear"

So glad to hear your great CT results.  My husband also has been on Sutent now for nine cycles.  He began at 50mg and is now taking 37.5 after his fourth cycle because the side effects were a bit much for him.  His original kidney cancer was diagnosed in May of 06, his right kidney was removed along with the tumor and we were told no further follow up treatment was needed.  RCC was diagnosed in January of 07, spreading to his lung linings.  He began sutent in February.  His tumors in his lung lining have shrunk tremendously, the largest from centimeters down to millimeters, and many of them completely gone.  We went for a CT scan this morning, his fourth, and are hopeful for more good news.  My husband Joe, is 66, and has worked full time since his recovery last February.  He golfs, gardens, loves to go fishing, and we are truly blessed that his life is going so well considering he was stage 4 cancer a year ago.  Oh and one more thing we have in common, our complete and utter faith in God.  His work in Joe is nothing short of a miracle, and we know that His plan was in place for Joe, before the doctors even entered the picture.  However, we have nothing but thanks and great respect for this wonderful new drug Sutent.  He has definately had all of the classic side effects, especially high blood pressure, and very sensitive skin, hands and feet, but nothing that cannot be tolerated when you have been given your life back.  Our life is now centered in prayer and it is a beautiful place to be. I hope your husband continues to heal as beautifully as mine has. God Bless you both.

It was wonderful to hear from you and know that both our husbands are doing so well. There are so many negative reports out there, it is just great to hear another testimony of God's goodness and the success of Sutent in destroying renal cancer cells. We are so thankful that he only has to take a pill, rather than the traditional chemo and radiation. Also God provided a way to pay for the sutent through the VA Medical Center. We only have to pay $8.00 a month for it! What a blessing!  I know what a difference it can make to know and believe that you will be restored to complete health. That is what we want to do is to offer hope to others and proclaim that God is still in the healing business. Please let us know how your Joe's CT turns out. We'll be thinking of you.
