My father-in-law had his kidney removed in sept 07.  He started Sutent and he CANNOT sleep.  He looks better, stopped losing weight, appetite is a little better, but he has nodules in the lungs and he has started coughing again about one week ago.  He had a CT yesterday so we don't know if the Sutent is working or not.  Is anyone else having trouble sleeping???  Thanks, CJ

Yes, I had trouble sleeping. If I got to sleep at a normal hour I would wake up at 2 AM and couldn't get back to sleep. But usually I just had trouble getting to sleep, period. I told my oncologist about it and he has given me the sleep aid you see on TV called LUNESTA, it works great either as a go to sleep or a go back to sleep if you wake. Try it he will like it.

My husband  also had trouble sleeping and  his doctor prescribed Ambien CR. He has been on both for a year. Up to this point his CT scans have shown shrinkage. His next scan is in February. The drug is rarely effective more than 18 months so we anticipate he will develop an immunity in the near future. However the last year has been very good for him  and no one would know he is  very ill to look at him. We will continue to travel and enjoy life as long as he is able.  Side effects can differ every cycle. Keep in close contact with your docs because many of the side effects can be controlled. Good luck to you. I hope you have as good results with Sutent as my hsband has had. It truly is a miracle drug.
